Compass Christian Church is partnering with a local refugee resettlement agency to sponsor some of these families and help them acclimate to their new lives. This organization helps these individuals & families achieve stability and equips them with the skills and guidance they need to begin their new lives in the United States.
Our volunteers will work directly with the families to help them with things such as transportation to the grocery store, practicing English, preparing for job interviews, assisting with donations for furniture and household products, and so much more.

Tens of thousands of refugees fled Afghanistan last year as the Taliban took control. Leaving behind loved ones and the only home they’ve ever known, they’ve come to the United States and stepped into a world alien to them. Many don’t know how to speak English, use technology, or navigate western culture at all. Overwhelmed and alone, they are brought to Richmond to be resettled into their new lives.
