Anna is an 11 year old who attends Compass Christian Church. She graduated 5th grade at Laurel Meadows Elementary School last June and started her middle school experience at Stone Wall Jackson Middle School this month.
Anna has fought cancer nearly her entire life, and she is fighter.
In February 2019, doctors believed she was in remission.
In September 2019 an MRI revealed a brain tumor. Anna underwent surgery to resect the tumor on 9/4/19. Pathology confirmed a devastating diagnosis, glioblastoma; an aggressive, self-generating cancer with a typical survival rate of 12 to 15 months with treatment, 3 months without treatment. Doctors have told Anna's family that treatments in Anna's case would only add 2 months to her life, at best.
Due to Anna's past battles, she and her parents have chosen not to try the treatments that can cause blindness, memory loss and violent seizures.
Doctors have told her parents she could have 6 months and to make the most of the time remaining.
Anna's wish is to return to Disney, she had the opportunity to go at age 3, but doesn't remember a lot of the trip.
Compass is working on getting estimates for airlines, meal plan, on site accommodations and passes for their family of four to experience Disney together over the Thanksgiving holiday.
We believe MANY in our Compass family, community, schools and neighbors will want to make this wish happen and we will coordinate those efforts, provide a reconciliation for the funds and work with Disney to make this happen.
